The Netherlands’ National Information Center for Gambling Players (Slicks) is set to open a new support center in Amsterdam to help individuals struggling with gambling addiction. This initiative was announced by the Kansspelautoriteit (KSA), the gambling authority in the Netherlands.
Helping Problem Gamblers Regain Control
The new pilot center will be specifically focused on addressing gambling harm in Amsterdam and will be situated near the Keizersgracht canal. The primary goal of the center is to encourage at-risk gamblers in the area to seek assistance and support.
At the treatment facility, individuals affected by gambling addiction will have the opportunity to share their experiences, explore treatment options, and receive guidance and advice. The center will also facilitate meetings between recovering individuals and patients to help them begin their journey towards recovery.

Evaluating Success and Future Plans
The establishment of Slicks’ first treatment facility in Amsterdam was made possible through funding from the Dutch Addiction Prevention Fund. Managed by the KSA, the fund distributes proceeds from the mandatory levy imposed on gambling operators in the Netherlands.
The success of the Amsterdam center will be assessed a year after its launch to determine if it has met its objectives in helping individuals overcome gambling addiction. Positive outcomes could lead to the expansion of the current facility and the establishment of similar centers in other locations.
KSA’s Commitment to Regulation
